*Shae is silent as he takes in all the info. After Valerie finishes talking, he speaks*

"Interesting. Well... you brought in Medusa. I assume you want some kind of compensation."

"Of course. I want info. What other villains are still at large in Maretropolis?"

"Just what would you do with that kind of info?"

"You can't tell anypony about this, but..."

*She leans in close*

"The Power Ponies hired me as an informant. I need to collect as much info on supervillains as possible for them."

*Shae is silent for a moment. He stares at Valerie, looking for any sort of nervous twitch*

"I find that a bit hard to believe, but I guess there's no harm in telling you."

*He turns to a filing cabinet, opens it, and takes out a file*

"Now, there are multiple files on criminals with superpowers, but this one's presented the biggest threat."

*He opens one and lays it on the table*

"Cerebrum, codename: "The Mad Mentalist". We've received a report that he's building some sort of ray-weapon. We're not sure how reliable this tip is, since it was anonymous, but we have noticed some suspicious deliveries to Maretropolis University. If you're going to find anything, that's the place."

"Right. Thanks, Investigator. I'll bring this info straight to the Power Ponies."

*Valerie leaves the office. She meets up with Miles and Lunaria outside*

"We're going to Maretropolis University. Investigator Shae said that there's been some unusual deliveries there. The police suspect that someone there may be the supervillain Cerebrum."

ACT II

"Come on, let's go."

*Sine leads them to the subway; it was a one station journey under the river to get to the university. As they leave the station, large carriages were parked in front of the campus.*

*"MINCS" the text on the carriages say.*

"MINCS... Maretropolis Industrial, Nuclear, Chemical, and Scientific ..."

*Spyder is clinging to a nearby wall, invisible except for his glowing red eyes*

"MINCS... What are you planning, Cerebrum..."

*He notices the group, and sneaks up behind them before becoming visible*

"What are you doing here? It's dangerous around here at night, you know."

*Valerie jumps a bit, but tries to keep her cool. She shows her badge to Spyder*

"Valerie Orton, private detective. Who are you?"

*Spyder glares at Valerie threateningly*

~What in Equestria is she doing? She was supposed to bring the info to the other Power Ponies, not go off and investigate on her own!~

"You don't need to know. Get out of here before you get hurt."

*Valerie reaches for her wristband*

*Valerie looks shocked*

~I knew it! I had a hunch that she was hiding something... A random accusation reveals the truth!~

"Fight me, Ryder. Show me your strength. Prove to me that you are worthy of calling yourself a Power Pony!"

*Valerie glares angrily at Spyder. She presses a button on her wristband and poses*

"Ikou ze! Masked Hero Ryder!"

*She transforms into Ryder*

"This form isn't very powerful... If you want to see my strength, then here it is! Henshin! Ryder 000!"

*The 000 Driver and 000 Scanner appear on her body*

~This guy... I'll use a Combo and finish him quickly!~

*She places three yellow medals in the Driver and scans them*

"Lion! Tora! Cheetah!"

*Her suit turns golden yellow, her visor turns into a lion's mane, and retractable claws appear on her front legs*

"La-Ta-La-Ta... LaToraTah! Scorching Combo: LaToraTah!"

*She dashes at high speed toward Spyder and slashes with her claws*

*Spyder jumps over the attack. He falls onto Ryder and kicks her in the back*

~He's fast! I'll have to slow him down...~

*Ryder switches the three yellow medals for three silver ones and scans them*

"Sai (Rhino)! Gorilla! Zou (Elephant)!"

*Her suit and visor turns silver, and a horn appears on her visor. Her claws are replaced with bulky gauntlets*

"Sa-Goh-Zo... SaGohZo! Gravity Combo: SaGohZo!"

*She slams the gauntlets against the ground. Gravity increases in the area, slowing Spyder down and preventing any jumping*

~Rats! I can't jump now... Time to change tactics!~

*Spyder rushes toward Ryder and tries to bite her*

*Ryder knocks Spyder away. She scans the medals again*

"Scanning Charge! SaGohZo Impact!"

*She jumps up and stomps the ground. The ground breaks apart and reconstructs around Spyder's legs. He is pulled toward Ryder*

"Graaah!!"

*As Spyder reaches Ryder, she delivers both a double punch and a headbutt, knocking Spyder away with tremendous force*

*Spyder hits a wall with so much force that it breaks. He falls down on the other side, heavily wounded*

"Tch! She got me... She's got potential, I'll give her that."

*Spyder gets up and faces Ryder*

"Hey!"

*He reaches into a pocket and pulls out a notebook*

"Catch."

*He throws the notebook to Ryder, then turns invisible and flees*

*Ryder catches the notebook and reverts her transformation*

"Spyder... Who are you..."

*Valerie goes back to Miles and Lunaria and opens the notebook*

"There's all sorts of notes on suspicious activity around here. Look at this!"

*She points out a list of deliveries made to the university*

"Gamma-ray emitters... Matter conversion drives... These aren't used in any kind of university course. Something's wrong!"

*She looks at the bottom of the list*

"The staff member that signed for all of these deliveries is... Professor Albert Stephens, a Psychology teacher and resident psychiatrist."

"Albert Stephens... Let me look him up."

*Lunaria closes her eyes and accesses the 'Planet's Bookshelves'*

"Keywords: Albert Stephens... Professor... Psychology..."

*She opens her eyes. They glow bright green*

"Albert Stephens, alias 'Cerebrum'. Has the power of mind control. Intends to construct a device to eradicate the gray matter of every pony in Maretropolis, turning them into mindless zombies."

*She blinks, and her eyes turn back to normal*

"Phew... Lookups really take a lot of energy from me."

*A slow clap is heard*

"Oh, well done, Power Ponies."

*Cerebrum walks into view*

"Unfortunately, you're too late. My Grey Matter Annihilator will be completed in a matter of minutes. As soon as I give the command to fire, everypony in Maretropolis will become a mindless zombie, rendering them 100% susceptible to my mind control abilities. With the entire city under my control, I will use them as my army to conquer all of Equestria!"

"Not on my watch! Ikou ze! Masked Hero Ryder!"

*Valerie transforms into Ryder*

"Henshin! Ryder FourZe! 3-2-1-Liftoff!"

*Ryder's jumpsuit becomes white with black stripes. She gets a jetpack on her back, and her visor becomes a space helmet with tinted glass. Her belt has four slots, each one occupied by a strangely-shaped switch.*

"Let's settle this one-on-one!"

*She flips the switch farthest to the left, a yellow switch shaped like a hammer. Her left front leg turns into a large hammer*

"Hammer, On!"

*She slams the ground in front of her with the hammer, then runs at Cerebrum and swings it at him*

*Cerebrum dodges the attack, then shoots a ray from his forehead. It hits Ryder, and she falls under Cerebrum's control*

"Your mind belongs to me, Ryder. Now... Attack them!"
