*Professor is standing on a crate, speaking into a megaphone*

"Attention, intellectuals! Test your mettle against Equestria's greatest minds! Enter for a chance to win big prizes!"

*Twilight approaches Professor*

"What's going on here?"

"Ah, Twilight Sparkle! I understand that you're one of the great minds of Ponyville. How would you like to test that mind against questions devised by the greatest intellectuals of Equestria?"

"Can you give me any names?"

"I'm afraid not. The question creators wish to remain anonymous. However, I can tell you that they are the smartest ponies in all of Equestria."

"Come on, Twi! You're super-smart! You can handle any question, no problem!"

"Thanks for the encouragement, Spike. I accept your challenge, sir!"

"Excellent! Now we only need two more contestants. Do you know anypony who would be interested?"

"I think I do, actually. Our resident mechanic, Axle Gear, loves a challenge. And Sine Radian is the smartest stallion in town, maybe in all of central Equestria!"

*Spike sees a green pony off in the distance*

"Speaking of Sine, isn't that him over there?"

*Twilight looks over at the pony*

"It is! Hey, Sine! Over here!"

*Twilight waves at Sine*

*He notices, then walk over with a sheet of paper.*

"Hello, Twilight! What's going on?"

"This stallion is looking for contestants for some sort of contest. I thought you'd be interested."

"You'll be going up against the smartest ponies in Equestria!"

"Excellent! Now, we only need one more contestant. Twilight, you mentioned somepony named Axle Gear?"

"That's right. He's the local mechanic, and a pretty smart stallion as well. Do you want me to bring you to his workshop so you can talk to him?"

*Twilight leads the group to Axle's workshop and knocks on the door*

"Hey, Axle!"

*Axle is working on the underside of a machine. He slides himself out and cleans his hooves off with a rag*

"Hello, Twilight. Hello, Sine."

*He notices Professor*

"I don't think we've met before. My name's Axle Gear. I'm the town mechanic."

"I'm Professor A. Cerebellum. I'm currently searching for contestants for a game show. Twilight has told me that you enjoy a challenge. We still have one open slot. Would you like to enter?"

"Sure! I can't say no to a challenge!"

"Excellent! Now all of the contestants have been chosen. The challenge begins in town hall tomorrow at 10 AM. Good luck, you three!"

*The group disbands*

*The next morning, 9:55 AM. The group has gathered behind the curtain on the stage in Town Hall*

"It looks like everypony's here. Please, take your seats."

*The group sits down behind separate podiums with screens on the front. The curtain is raised, revealing that the entire town has gathered to watch. Professor speaks to the crowd*

"Hello, everypony! Thank you all for coming. Today, these three will put their brains to the test, competing against each other for big prizes!"

*The crowd applauds*

"Before we begin, let me explain the rules. We will begin with Round 1, the multiple-choice round. I will choose one of our contestants, and spin these wheels to choose a topic and point worth."

*Professor gestures toward a pair of wheels. One is labeled with various topics, the other has numbers and pictures on it*

"Then, based on the outcome of the wheel spins, a question will be issued to the contestant, along with four possible answers. If the contestant can answer the question, they gain points. To make thing interesting, each contestant can hold one 'item' to use. These items have different effects depending on the item. To begin, each of you get a Cutter."

*A pair of scissors appears on the screen on each podium*

"The Cutter allows you to cut away two incorrect answers. However, once you use it, it's gone. You can earn other items if the point wheel lands on an item space. Whoever has the most points at the end of the first round will get an advantage in round 2. Do you understand?"

"Well... It's kind of different than the one I have subbed for at the Everfree Recording Studio... I can surely adapt to this."
